CRITICAL SKILLS OPERATOR

Critical Skills Operators (CSOs) are assigned to billets at the team, company, and battalion levels. Enlisted Marines are designated CSOs and awarded the 0372 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

CSOs will maintain this MOS for the duration of their Marine Corps career.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS OFFICER

Special Operations Officers (SOOs) serve as team commanders an other SOF billets at the team, company and battalion levels. Officers are awarded the 0370 MOS.

SOOs will maintain this MOS for the duration of their Marine Corps career.

 

PREREQUISITES

 

CRITICAL SKILLS OPERATORS

Have a minimum General Technical (GT) score of 105.
Have a minimum Physical Fitness Test (PFT) score of 235. 
Be able to pass the MARSOC swim assessment.
Meet the MARSOC medical screening criteria.
Be eligible to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Upon selection, to make a lateral move to the critical skills operator MOS.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS OFFICERS

Have a minimum General Classification Test (GTC) score of 110.
Have a minimum Physical Fitness Test (PFT) score of 235. 
Be able to pass the MARSOC swim assessment.
Meet the MARSOC medical screening criteria.
Be eligible to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Upon selection, to make a lateral move to the special operations officer MOS.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS
CAPABILITY SPECIALISTS

Special Operations Capability Specialists (SOCS) are Marines who provide combat support expertise in intelligence, fire support, communications, and canine operations as part of the Marine Raiders. SOCS are assigned to billets at the team, company, and battalion levels. Enlisted Marines are designated SOCS and awarded the 8071 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

SOCS are assigned to MARSOC for 5-year tours and are eligible for additional career-enhancing opportunities within the special operations community.

TRAINING

Upon assignment to MARSOC, Marines attend the SOF Training Course (STC), Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE), and advanced SOF-specific MOS training. This program is designed to equip high-performing Marines with additional skills and concepts required to be effective in special operations.

MCSOC COURSE

The MARSOC Combat Support Orientation Course (MCSOC) gives eligible Marines the opportunity to interface with senior enlisted leaders, and to participate in MOS-specific, physical performance/resiliency, and mental performance/fitness training. Upon completion, Marines will receive additional feedback on the skill sets required for a successful tour with MARSOC

COMBAT SERVICE SUPPORT

Marine Forces Special Operations Command units are further enabled with CSS Marines who are directly assigned to support billets at the company and battalion levels. Alongside their fellow Raiders, CSS Marines serve in their primary MOS and may also receive an appropriate level of SOF-related training as required to support their assigned operations.
